Deformation patterns in a second-gradient lattice annular plate composed of “Spira mirabilis” fibers

Abstract In this paper, we aim to explore the mechanical potentialities of a material made an orthogonal net fibers arranged in logarithmic spirals. Therefore, annular plate described with second-gradient model is envisaged evaluate behavior such nonlinear elastic regime when large displacements and deformations occur. Several tests are performed numerically under finite element method approximation obtained directly weak formulation based on energy that it assumed be predictive for kind network system fibers. Plots reporting characteristics all considered provided illustrate overall evaluated system.
